Blood Diamonds

I watched the film Blood Diamonds last week at a preview screening in London. To be honest I wasn't expecting much of that film, especially as the director did previously terrible things like the Last Samurai with Tom Cruise or even worse Legend of the Fall with Brad Pitt... well I have to say that this film was a good surprise.The main actors, Leo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou, are this time excellent and the film is not a complete catastrophe. It even gets you thinking about the problem of Blood Diamonds or the business of diamonds that is fuelling arms conficts in Africa, especially in Sierra Leone, DRC, Ivory Coast.

A good thing to do before or after the film is to go on the Global Witness website or the Amnesty website in order to get background info on this issue and help the campaigns to stop blood diamonds.
